  • Rome Memorial Hospital Community Recovery Center awarded 3-year operating certification from state agency

The Community Recovery Center of Rome Memorial Hospital has been awarded a three-year certification by the state Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services (OASAS) for its chemical dependence outpatient services, announced Ashlee Thompson, MSEd/CASAC, program director.
“This 3-year certification is the longest that the state issues,” Thompson said. “The term of the certification is based upon the scores received during an OASAS compliance review. Our top scores show our commitment to providing our community with the best quality care in a safe, healing environment.”
The Community Recovery Center provides treatment for adults and adolescents who are chemically dependent on alcohol, prescription medications and illegal drugs.
Thompson explained that some of the areas reviewed in the certification process included patient charting procedures, treatment plans, classes and groups provided, discharging procedures, and number and quality of caregivers.
“At the Community Recovery Center, 100 percent of our caregivers are Qualified Health Professionals, as specified by the Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Service,” Thompson said.
OASAS defines a Qualified Health Professional as: “one who is in good standing with the appropriate licensing or certifying authority, as applicable, with a minimum of one year of experience in the treatment of alcoholism or substance abuse and/or chemical dependence, or satisfactory completion of a training program in the treatment of alcoholism or substance abuse and/or chemical dependence.”
Anyone having difficulty with alcohol or other drug use can call the Community Recovery Center directly or be referred by their physician, criminal justice system, employer, employee assistance program, school, county social service office or other treatment provider, Thompson said. The center has no waiting list and an appointment is made at the time of the call from a potential client or referral source.
Located at 264 W. Dominick St., Rome, the Community Recovery Center operates Monday and Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Tuesday-Thursday from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. The center participates with most major insurance programs, including Medicare and Medicaid. A sliding scale fee is available for self-pay clients. For more information about the Community Recovery Center, call 315-334-4701.
