• Rome Hospital Foundation accepted a check for $325.00 from Runnings, a local outdoor and sporting goods retailer, to support the hospital’s Women’s Imaging Center.

Each year the store offers a Breast Cancer Awareness Ladies’ Night fundraiser in which customers purchase a 5-gallon pink Runnings bucket to receive a discount on whatever items fit inside. Proceeds from that evening’s bucket sales are donated to support the fight against breast cancer.

“This year it was important for us to support Rome Memorial Hospital’s Women’s Imaging Center and keep the proceeds from the event in our community,” said Crystal O’Connor, front end manager. “We are familiar with the Women’s Imaging Center’s commitment to provide the latest technology and professional expertise in breast care.”

“The store’s generosity will help the Women’s Imaging Center enhance their patients’ experience while providing them with quality care, particularly in the prevention and diagnosis of breast cancer,” said Rome Hospital Foundation Executive Director Becky D’Aiuto. “Everyone at the Center prides themselves in creating a special place for women, providing added privacy and comfort. They pamper their patients with spa-like robes, coffee, and music to help alleviate anxiety whether patients come to them for routine screening or diagnostic testing.”

Rome Memorial Hospital’s Women’s Imaging Center consolidates 3D mammography, breast ultrasound, breast MRI, ultrasound and bone densitometry in one area to provide patients with greater comfort, privacy and convenience. A designated Breast Imaging Center of Excellence by the American College of Radiology (ACR), the Center earned ACR accreditation in mammography, stereotactic breast biopsy, breast ultrasound (including ultrasound-guided breast biopsy) and breast MRI. This designation acknowledges the Women’s Imaging Center’s high practice standards in image quality, personnel qualifications, facility equipment, quality control procedures and quality assurance programs.
