Surgical Specialists ScreeningsRome Health Surgical Specialists offer free screenings Sept. 18

Rome Health Surgical Specialists will offer free screenings at the “Fall into Health & Wellness Day” 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 18th, at St. Paul’s Parish Center, 1807 Bedford St., Rome.

Free screenings will include body mass index, hernia screening and cancer risk questionnaire. Face masks will be required for the screenings.

Participants will have the opportunity to meet and talk with Rome Health general surgeons Keneth Hall, MD, FACS, FASMBS, Samuel Molica, D.O., and Mark Williams, M.D., FACS. The surgeons are trained in the latest minimally invasive surgical techniques to speed recovery.

BMI SCREENING - Dr. Hall specializes in weight-loss surgery and medically-managed weight loss. He will be providing free body mass index (BMI) screenings at the wellness day. Candidates for weight loss surgery are based upon BMI, a measure calculated using height and weight, as well as obesity-related conditions. He will answer questions about weight loss options.

HERNIA SCREENING - Dr. Molica will provide hernia screenings for individuals who may have noticed that they’ve developed a lump or bulge where tissue or organ is squeezing through a weak spot in the muscle or fascia. There will be a privacy curtain available for Dr. Molica to conduct the physical screening. Dr. Molica performs a broad range of procedures at Rome Health, including screening colonoscopy and endoscopy procedures to evaluate the digestive tract for ulcerative disease.

CANCER RISK SCREENING - Dr. Williams specializes in breast surgery and will be offering the hereditary cancer risk screening questionnaire, which is used to identify individuals who are eligible for genetic testing based upon their personal and family history. Dr. Williams expertise in breast surgery complements Rome Health’s Breast Imaging Center of Excellence, which offers the latest in diagnostic technology and personalized breast care treatment.

The Fall into Health & Wellness day is free and open to the public and will feature many organizations and agencies.
