Quality care and the comforts of home.

Moving a loved one to a nursing home is a difficult decision for a family to make. Take comfort in knowing that Rome Memorial Hospital’s Residential Healthcare Facility (RHF) offers compassionate medical care in a setting that can be made to feel as close to home as possible.

With attractive, comfortable rooms that residents can make their own, the Residential Healthcare Facility is a hospital-based, full-service 80-bed skilled nursing facility. On a day-to-day basis, residents have access to a range of medical services. Long-term care, short-term rehabilitation and respite care are all available.

RHF residents can also take part in organized activities or outings, entertain visitors any time they like and enjoy three meals a day in their own room or in our attractive dining room – all with the assistance of our compassionate long term care staff.

Rome Memorial Hospital’s Residential Healthcare Facility is accredited by the Healthcare Facilities Accreditation Program (HFAP).

    What you can expect.

Because the staff of the Residential Healthcare Facility is part of the dynamic hospital team, they are aware of and specially trained to handle the difficulties facing those who are elderly, frail or chronically ill.
The facility operates under the supervision of a licensed nursing home administrator and a medical director in conjunction with a leadership team, including a director of nursing, director of social services, director of activities, dietitian, pharmacist and staff physical, occupational and speech therapists.

The hospital offers a full spectrum of medical services and experienced medical professionals around-the-clock. Should the need arise, all of our diagnostic services, such as lab, medical imaging and respiratory therapy are available.

In addition to acute medical services on site, support services are also available for residents and respite care guests. These include personalized diets, physical therapy, podiatry and dental care.

Support for family members, who may experience a range of emotions and concerns regarding their loved one’s care, is also available. Various speakers provide information to help family members better understand and cope with the challenges of having a loved one in a nursing home. The group gives families a forum to reach out and help each other, which ultimately benefits residents.

    Activities enrich residents’ lives.

Residents and respite care guests can take advantage of a range of daily activities ranging from bingo and Tai Chi classes to intergenerational programs and Friday night happy hour. Helping residents keep as active as possible is an important facet to the care we provide.

The activities staff also finds creative ways to help the residents celebrate holidays and frequently plans special events and trips.

    Comfortable surroundings, comforting friends.

Beside residents, others make their home in the Residential Healthcare Facility. Cats meander delicately through the corridors looking for a lap to rest upon. In addition, birds sing merrily from their perches while a fish tank’s tiny residents bubble softly in the activities room.

Visits by friends and family are encouraged. In fact, the residents’ pets are welcome to stop by for visits.
