    Flandrau Society

The Flandrau Society is a leadership giving society created in honor of Dr. Thomas M. Flandrau and wife, Clarissa Foote Flandrau. Out of need, the Flandraus opened their home to care for victims of a train accident in 1883. They went on to establish the city’s first “cottage hospital “in a vacant church rectory on Ridge Street. On September 26th, 1887, due to the Flandrau’s efforts in rousing public sentiment as well as funding, Dr. Flandrau laid the cornerstone of the Rome Memorial Hospital at 117 E. Garden Street. The Flandrau Society recognizes the individual efforts of the Dr. and Mrs. Flandrau in bringing our community Hospital to fruition more than 125 years ago and invites individuals to join a society of giving that is an essential cornerstone of support for Rome Hospital Foundation and Rome Memorial Hospital today. Flandrau society membership begins with a leadership gift of $1000 or more.

Gifts are given to provide a meaningful and lasting memorial or as a tribute to someone who may have overcome a recent challenge. Notification is sent to the honoree or family. Employee Giving Campaign

RMH employees are exceptional people committed to delivering exceptional care for a healthier community. The Foundation’s Employee Giving Campaign is another way our great employees go above and beyond to help provide excellent patient and family experiences. For the 2011 campaign, teams were charged with the challenge of raising enough funds to cover the cost of redoing a Hospital room. Wanting to further enrich the experience of our patients, RMH employees rallied to raise more than $78,000 throughout the summer campaign. Those funds will be used to refresh multiple rooms on 2 North with new equipment and fixtures.
